Teens Charged in Break-in Attempt, Damage PDF Print

On the evening of January 15th at approximately 9:00 P.M. Officers of the Avery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at a gas station on North U.S. 19 E Highway near Elk Park about a possible breaking and entering in progress.  Responding Officers found a side window that been forced open. Officers found footprints in the snow and were able to follow the prints into the Cranberry Community.  Officers confronted three male juveniles and the juveniles made admissions about the attempted break-in.  Two seventeen year old males and one sixteen year old male were arrested and charged with attempted breaking and entering.  Two of the juveniles were also charged with damage to real property in connection with an earlier call Officers responded to about two vehicles driving on the lawn of the caller.  On arrival Officers found two vehicles driven by the suspects were stuck in the lawn of the caller.
