Black Ice Causes Accident in Avery County PDF Print
Written by Brian Fisher

Black ice contributed to an accident in Avery County Wednesday evening. According to Trooper Matt Pitman of the Highway Patrol, Makenzie Thomas, 19,

of Cranberry was traveling North on Highway 19E near the Spear Community when her Honda Fit hit black ice, causing Thomas to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle then veered off of the right side of the highway and down a 20 foot embankment, coming to rest on the driver’s side of the vehicle in a pasture. Thomas was not hurt in the accident and speed was not a factor.
