Burning Ban to lift today PDF Print
Wednesday, 02 January 2008 03:24
Despite a statewide drought, the burning ban will be lifted at 5 p.m. today.

The burning ban has been in effect since October. Forest officials caution people to use care when burning and take necessary precautions. Burners should have a fire break cleared around the area to be burned and have tools, water, water hose at the ready to keep a fire under control. They should also have enough people or equipment on scene to keep a fire under control in the event of an emergency. Always stay with the fire until it is fully out and completely extinguish all remaining coals and embers.

The ban lift is temporary, officials say. They hope residents will use this opportunity to burn off forest debris that could cause a woodsfire.
