LENOIR (WKVS) A Lenoir man lead authorities in Caldwell and Burke counties on a chase Wednesday night. 36-year-old Todd Phillip Rader is accused of stealing a motorcycle and around 7:40 Wednesday night Caldwell County officials were chasing Rader who rode into Burke County. Caldwell County Deputies and Troopers from the State Highway patrol gave pursuit while Morganton Public Safety Officers warned drivers at the intersections along the chase route. Rader is said to have hit a curb and wrecked on Bost Road in Morganton. He was not wearing a helmet but was not seriously injured. He was treated at Carolinas Medical Center Morganton for cuts and scrapes. Rader was charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle and felony fleeing to elude as well as misdemeanor resisting.

HICKORY (WKVS) Hickory Fire investigator say theyve figured out what caused the fire at an apartment in Hickory earlier this week. Investigators say the fire was set on purpose. A reward has been offered through the Arson Awareness Council to help find out who set the fire. The reward is from $100 to $1000 and is available for information that leads to the arrest of the person or persons involved in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the Arson Awareness Council Hotline at 1-800-334-3000, or the Hickory Police Department at 828-328-5551.

CHARLOTTE (WKVS) Those who were duped by JV Huffman in a Ponzi Scheme where he admitted to stealing around $25 million dollars will have to wait for at least one more week to get monies coming to the them. The Hickory Daily Record reports that the wait is because of a complaint by the Securities and Exchange Commission concerning details listed in the paperwork that has been filed. It is estimated that there are 350 claims in the case and they will be paid out of 2.3 million dollars that the receivership has collected. Huffman was arrested in 2008 for the scheme that lasted over 17 years.

MORGANTON (WKVS) Businesses in Downtown Morganton are banding together this weekend and next weekend for what is being called Our Dickens Downtown Christmas. Many of the businesses will have their staff dressed in costume of characters that Charles Dickens created. There will be storytelling, entertainment, refreshments, and horse drawn carriage rides as well. The Dickens Downtown Christmas in Morganton is tonight and tomorrow night and then next Friday and Saturday as well.

HICKORY (WKVS) The Lenoir Rhyne Bears football team goes for their 13th straight win tomorrow as they host a National semifinal game against West Chester University from Pennsylvania. Kickoff will be shortly after noon and can be heard on Kicks 103.3 and on LRBEARS.COM. Whoever wins tomorrow will head to FLorence, Alabama next week to play in the National Championship Game. Following the football game tomorrow the Bears basketball teams will be in action hosting Carson Newman. Those games will be free to enter, and they also can be heard on Kicks 103.3.

CATAWBA (WKVS) Former Nascar Driver Jeremy Mayfields former home will be burned down tomorrow. Mayfield was evicted from the property last year after financial troubles stemming from a failed drug test in 2009 that banned him from racing. The 12,000-square-foot home was once valued at $1.8 million but is said to not be worth that anymore. Burning it will take it off the tax books while providing training for firefighters in the county. Mayfield is scheduled to go back before a judge early next month where he faces several felony charges.
