Rep. Phillip Frye to plead guilty to Christmas Eve DWI PDF Print
Thursday, 27 December 2007 20:46

Republican State Representative Phillip Frye plans to plead guilty to driving while impaired on Christmas Eve.

The Mitchell County resident serves the 84th district, which includes Avery, Mitchell and part of Yancey and Caldwell counties. In a statement released yesterday to the press, Frye said he is “extremely sorry” for the incident and takes full responsibility. Frye hit a parked vehicle on Reservoir Road in Spruce Pine close to his residence Monday evening. In his statement, Frye called the offense his first and last, saying he is doing an assessment with High County Counseling and will do “whatever their evaluation determines.” Frye was first elected to the General Assembly in 2002 and is in his third term as state representative.
