American Red Cross needs Help PDF Print
Wednesday, 26 December 2007 19:00

The American Red Cross is having a tough time in Caldwell County.

Several fires over the past few weeks have taken their toll on the Red Cross’ resources, director David Garrison says. Earlier this week, the Red Cross assisted a family in Hudson that lost their home in a woodstove fire.

In such cases, the American Red Cross assists with food, clothing and hotel vouchers.

It can add up. The past six months have cost the Red Cross more than they’ve spent in any complete year so far.

To find out how you can help, call 828-322-4152.

On a related note, Friends of the Library is hosting a Blood Drive at Watauga County Library tomorrow from 11 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Call 828-264-8784 for more information. Watauga High School HOSA Club is sponsoring a blood drive Monday from 12:30 to 6 p.m. at the Greenway Baptist Church in Boone. Call Casey for more information at 828-964-3409. Donors who give blood before January 9 get a long sleeve white t-shirt and can enter a drawing for a $1,000 gift card.
