A Saturday crash has now claimed the life of a Wilkes County man. The crash occurred around 3:45 Saturday afternoon on Speedway Road, according to Trooper R.R. Walker of the N.C. Highway Patrol.
Burton Cooper Pardue, 86, of Ronda was rushed to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center

in Winston-Salem by Wilkes EMS where he died around 10 p.m. Saturday. Trooper Walker said Pardue had internal injuries.
The state patrol report said Pardue was driving his 1995 Nissan pickup truck when a westbound 2008 Mazda passenger car went off on the right, left of center, and collided with Pardue. The driver of the Mazda, Roderick Stephfun Taylor, 22, of Moravian Falls, and a passenger, Kristan Danielle Lenderman, 23, of North Wilkesboro, were also taken to Baptist, both with fractures and other injuries, according to trooper Walker. He said there was no indication of high speed or alcohol use, and that occupants of both vehicles were wearing seat belts. Broadway first responders and firemen responded to the scene of the wreck, helping with the injured and directing traffic. Walker said charges are pending further investigation.
