Give love for Christmas PDF Print

While a pet may be the perfect holiday addition to your family, Avery County Humane Society Director Alice Sudderth warns that it’s not a responsibility to take lightly.

The Humane Society does not like to adopt pets to go under a Christmas tree- holidays are too hectic for the animal to get enough attention, Sudderth says. Sudderth recommends giving kids a picture and saying Santa left the new puppy at the shelter. The decision to give a puppy or kitten should be well-thought-out, she says. Giving a pet a home is a long-term commitment.
