|Updated Census shows less people than pigs|

New Census data was released yesterday. .
includes population and mortality rates. 8.9 people were living in North
Carolina in 2006, compared to 9.5 million pigs and hogs. The data highlights
serious issues as well. The infant mortality rate statewide is the fourth
highest rate in the country with 8.8 per 1,000 births. North Carolina spent
only $7,852 per student in elementary and secondary schools in 2005. That ranks
the state near the bottom at 39th.
