Burglary Suspect Caught Red-Handed PDF Print

A suspect was captured in a Boone break-in this afternoon after he discovered that most of the streets in the neighborhood were dead-end. The drama began in the early afternoon when a woman returned home to her Creekside Lane home and interrupted the burglary in progress. She called Boone Police as the suspect jumped into a red BMW and fled the scene, but thinking quickly, she followed to the end of Creekside, seeing that the suspect drove to where there were only dead-end streets.  Boone Police, converging on the scene, checked the area for the vehicle, and found it at the dead end of Chase Hill Drive.  That quick search led to the suspect, in his car near the New River tributary that flows through the area.  Police were still processing the man—one they had been in contact with earlier in the day. The witness said they had been warned about a rash of break-ins in the area.
