Grant to Put Smoke Detectors in Local Homes PDF Print

Just as the fall home fire season approaches, the Watauga County Fire Fighters Association has received a grant for Smoke Alarms from the North Carolina Office of State Fire Marshal. Angie Gryder Gregg, Injury Prevention Specialist  with the Office of State Fire Marshal said that any resident of Watauga County could qualify for free smoke alarms by meeting one of three criteria:  One, that you have no working smoke alarms in your home; Two, having only one working smoke alarm in your home; or Three, Your smoke alarm is over 10 years old and needs replacing. Ronnie Marsh, President of the Watauga County Fire Fighters Association said to contact your local Fire Department or contact the Watauga County Fire Marshal's Office at 264-4235 for consultation about and installation of smoke alarms.
