Rauch says it’s been a struggle PDF Print
Friday, 14 December 2007 14:14

While historically the Mountaineers are no strangers to heartbreak on the field, this year has been difficult for the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

Mountaineer Julian Rauch says that makes getting to Chattanooga even sweeter.

“Getting here we’ve had a lot more adversity, with the two conference losses, all the injuries, all the distractions we’ve had with the media from Michigan and just throughout the year, I think that’s made us a lot stronger.”

The Mountaineers have changed- and Rauch is proud of how his team has gotten past that adversity.

“Last year we didn’t have as much of that, so this year if we have a little distraction, if something goes wrong, we kind of brush it off real easy, whereas last year it might have affected somebody or the whole team. I think this year a lot of the players are real mature and are very easily focused.”

If the Mountaineers can keep their focus- a three-peat victory put ASU into the history books again- this time for most consecutive national title wins.
