Mountaineer Fever hits Retailers PDF Print
Wednesday, 12 December 2007 22:31

Governors and ticket scalpers aren’t the only ones with Mountaineer fever.

The possibility of a three-peat National Championship Victory in Chattanooga Friday has football fans flocking to stores- and retailers raking in the profits. According to Omega Tees’ Marla Presnell, the fever first struck after the Michigan victory.

“It’s not really subsided a great deal since. The momentum just keeps going… it seems like everyone’s now an Appalachian fan, so that’s great.”

It’s certainly great for area retailers who are seeing a massive increase in the sale of Appalachian fan apparel.

“We’ve implemented several new designs and several new styles that we carry in the store, and they’ve gone over quite well.”

Omega Tees isn’t the only one. After the Michigan game King Street was abuzz with venders selling “Michigan Who?” T-shirts. Presnell has something special planned for after the possible 3-peat.

“We have a few designs in mind, and we will have those ready after the game on Friday.”

Presnell won’t give any hints. Expect area Fan Shops to share in the post-game Mountaineer Fever with some unique fan apparel.
