The Marine Corps knows how you can get into the holiday spirit.

“There’s kids all around us who will do without Christmas presents this year. The Toys for Tots program tries to give every under privileged kid a toy for Christmas.”

That’s Toys for Tots organizer Jerry Smith. Started in1947, Toys for Tots gives you an opportunity to help a needy child.

“By donating unwrapped, new toys at the drop off site, or they can make donations to Toys for Tots so we could buy toys.”

Smith says the program tries to give one major and one minor toy to each child.

Toys for Tots has 604 sites nationwide participating.

“Local marine corps reserve units do this every year to help children.”

Drop-off locations include Regal Cinemas in Boone and United Community Bank in Blowing Rock. For more information, contact Smith at 336-667-0204.
