Tuesday, 11 December 2007 19:18

Boone Police Officers and the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit’s Bomb Squad discovered what could be explosives in a home on Junaluska Road in Boone.

Watauga Medics and Boone Fire Department were on standby. A rifle and suspected explosive material were seized. Captain William Greene had no comment on the nature of the materials discovered, but did say the possible explosives were of the solid variety. The materials are currently being tested to determine if they are actually explosives. Investigation is continuing to determine the owner of the property and the circumstances surrounding the seized items.
