The suspect in the early Friday morning death of an Ashe County woman is in custody, and will have a first court appearance this week. 30-year old Jacob Edwin Johnson was arrested just after 10 am Friday about two miles from the scene of the incident  that occurred in the roadway on NC Highway 88 east.  Miranda Wiles, 29, was killed in what originally looked like a pedestrian incident, but it soon became more evident that her death was not accidental, and the State Patrol sent a reconstruction team to the scene.  Sheriff James Williams said that Johnson was charged with charged with felony hit/run serious injury/death and misdemeanor death by vehicle—the most serious counts he could be charged with at the time, but that the DA’s office will be looking into the incident that followed a domestic incident.  Jacob Edwin Johnson was set a $200,000 bond pending that court appearance.
