Imagination Library print to benefit Ashe Library PDF Print
Monday, 10 December 2007 18:00

Local artist Stephen Shoemaker is supporting Ashe County’s  Dolly Parton Imagination Library in a unique way.

To promote reading among local youths, Shoemaker created a special print, “Imagination Library.” Sponsored by AF Bank and Bob Washburn, the print is a collection of scenes and characters from Shoemaker’s own childhood imagination. Shoemaker will sign prints on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Mount Jefferson Road branch of AF Bank. The proceeds from the $50 prints go to the Imagination Library and the Ashe County Partnership for Children.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library started last year. Implemented by country music star Dolly Parton, the library allows children, ages birth through five-years-old, to have up to 60 books by the time they enter kindergarten. The program is free and supported by sponsorships. For more information on the Library, call 828-846-9196 or visit
