Gov. Pat McCrory is scheduled to appear in Boone today to speak at the conclusion of the second annual Appalachian Energy Summit, according to event organizers and the Governor’s press office. His attendance comes as representatives of the 17 UNC campuses and from a number of other private colleges in the state come together to deal with conservation and energy efficiency, concepts UNC system president Tom Ross stressed  at the conference has to be employed actively for real cost savings, especially in light of budget constraints. McCrory's press office says the governor will do a walking tour of downtown Boone and a meet-and-greet around 2:30 p.m. at Mellow Mushroom. It will be McCrory’s first visit to Boone as Governor.
