A Tennessee man was injured, a Boone man’s car burned after hitting a truck on N.C. 105 near Broadstone Road late Saturday morning. The accident occurred around 11:10 a.m. when a white Chevy 3500 tree service truck stopped for traffic, and the silver Volvo station wagon didn’t manage to stop in time and rear-ended the truck, according to Trooper Tim Hendrix of the N.C. Highway Patrol. Hendrix said the driver of the Volvo, Michael Armes, 41, got out of the Volvo just before it ignited. Foscoe firefighters were called as the car erupted in flames, and they were quickly on the scene, already out helping with Blood, Sweat  and Gears bike ride. The driver of the work truck, 52-year-old Eugene Blakeman Jr. of Butler, Tenn., was taken to Watauga Medical Center, according to Hendrix, who cited Armes was cited for failure to reduce speed.
