Estimated 5 acres burned in Sampson PDF Print

Firefighters from the North Carolina Forest Service and Blowing Rock, Boone and Stewart Simmons fire departments were able to stifle a brushfire in Sampson within four hours yesterday.
75 percent of the blaze had been contained within one hour. The fire started just after 2 p.m. near Flat Mountain Road in the Sampson community and burned an estimated five acres. North Carolina Forest Ranger Rudy Johnson cleared the scene just before 6 p.m. A cause has yet to be determined.
