Shot Fired at Suspects in Home Invasion PDF Print

A Burglary interrupted by a homeowner firing at the suspects has now led to four arrests. The incident—all caught on surveillance video—occurred  early last Monday morning at the Georgetown Extension, Lenoir residence of 72-year old Morris Leon Reaves, that video evidence placing the time of the home invasion at 12:19am. The video shows three of the four kicking in the front door, brandishing an AK-47 style rifle.  With the noise, the homeowner retrieved his own weapon and fired in the direction of the suspects, who then turned and fled to a waiting vehicle, driven by the a woman. Two of the suspects covered their faces with ski masks, but the video led to the identity of the suspects and to the arrests Friday of the four. The teens charged are Dexton Markez Banner, 17, Latif Thomas Banner, 19, 16-year old Maurice Craig Brown, all of Lenoir, and 18-year old Ashley Nicole Bost of Hickory.  Each were charged with felonies of First Degree Burglary, Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Kidnapping, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Conspiracy to commit Burglary, Breaking and Entering to a Motor Vehicle, Larceny after Breaking and Entering, and misdemeanor Assault by Pointing a Gun.  Lenoir Police investigators say the four planned the robbery, and had broken into a car outside, stealing a wallet and clothing before moving in on the house. Bonds were set at a half-million dollars for Latif Banner, $251,500 for Maurice Craig Brown, $101,500 for Ashley Nicole Bost, and $50,000 for Dexton Banner. Lenoir Police said the Caldwell Sheriff’s Office and Longview Police aided in the investigation and arrests.
