An Appalachian State University student from Charlotte
has received the N.C. Campus Compact Community Impact Award.
received the award at the annual N.C. Campus Compact Student Conference held at
East Carolina University. The award is presented annually to students who have
made significant, innovative contributions to campus-based efforts to address
community needs. 26 students statewide are recognized. As an inaugural member
of NC-ACTS, Brown contributed 300 hours of individual service at a resource
center for the local Hispanic population. Brown also co-founded Appalachian’s
Relay for Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Brown is a senior
psychology major who expects to graduate in 2008.
