Winter coming: prepare now, Beech chief says PDF Print
Thursday, 29 November 2007 02:44

Winter’s not all about skiing and snow sports.

It brings a challenge locals are all too familiar with Beech Mountain Police Chief Jay Hefner says. Snow and ice can mean unsafe roadways. Black ice is hard to detect, he says. Sometimes you can see a glare- but if black ice is out, Hefner says you should stay in. Start preparing now- before the weather gets bad. Make sure you have good tires, he says. It doesn’t hurt to keep chains in the trunk of your car. In case you’re stranded, Hefner recommends keeping blankets in your car. Pay attention to the weather report- and if it’s icy- stay inside, Hefner says.
