Anderson case dismissed- DA to re-evaluate PDF Print
Tuesday, 27 November 2007 18:21

Charges against Sawmills dairy farmer Jerry Anderson have been dismissed.

District Attorney James C. Gaither announced the decision today to dismiss the murder charges without prejudice. That means Gaither could refile them in the future.

Jerry Anderson is accused of murdering his wife, Emily Griffit Anderson.

Emily Anderson’s body was discovered in the toolbox of her truck on January 7, 2006. Jerry Anderson went to trial in May. A mistrial was declared on July 20 after jurors voted 11-1 in favor of acquittal. Up until yesterday, investigators continued to call Anderson their primary suspect.

Gaither says the case is still being investigated and finding out what happened to Emily Anderson is still a priority.

“All options for the prosecution of this murder remain open and the District Attorney's Office will re-evaluate the case as additional information becomes available,” he said in a statement released to the press yesterday.

Anyone with information on the case should call Caldwell County Crimestoppers at 828-758-8300.
