After leading Appalachian State through a major student enrollment expansion, through serious budget woes, and watching athletic successes expand those programs--now on the cusp of entering a new division, Chancellor Ken Peacock announced to the Appalachian family yesterday that he is stepping down.  His letter says, in part, "After nine years as Appalachian State University’s chancellor, I have decided to step down from this office.  This is a difficult decision for me, but I believe it is the right time for Appalachian, and more importantly, the right time to make this change for my family.  This is a decision both Rosanne and I have made together."  He went on to say, "Today I informed UNC System President Tom Ross and members of the Appalachian Board of Trustees of my decision.  I plan to stay on as chancellor until a successor is appointed to the position." So now the process of finding a new chancellor gets underway for Appalachian State.
