The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into the Gas N Go on U.S. 321 Saturday claimed he fell asleep. Lenoir police, however, have charged him with driving while impaired.
25-year-old David Shawn Miller was driving the northbound 2004 Dodge Ram 1500
on U.S. 321 just before 7 a.m. Saturday when it veered off the road, hit a
utility pole and crashed into the canopy support of the service station.
Miller was conscious at the scene and was airlifted from Caldwell Memorial
Hospital to Carolinas Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
Miller also faces a reckless driving charge and a seatbelt infraction.
