A pickup truck crashed into the Gas N Go on U.S. 321 North in Lenoir Saturday leaving its driver in critical condition.

25-year-old David Shawn Miller was driving a northbound 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 on U.S. 321 just before 7 a.m. Saturday when it veered off the road, hit a utility pole and crashed into the canopy support of the service station.

Miller was conscious at the scene and was airlifted from Caldwell Memorial Hospital to Carolinas Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. Miller told rescuers he fell asleep at the wheel. Lenoir Police officers are investigating alcohol as a possible factor in the wreck.
