The Watauga County Commission will hear a proposal this morning from the Watauga County Arts Council to put back to use a building the county took as part of the demise of New River Behavioral Healthcare.  Arts Council Director Cherry Johnson will present a plan for use of the building on Shadowline Drive for blue Ridge Art Space, a multi-function art center with new gallery spaces and more space dedicated to music and other art forms.  The building has been vacant over a year with few prospects for the property, and the Arts Council is in need of more permanent space.  That proposal is set to be heard as the first business item on the county agenda, just after 8:30 this morning.
