Caldwell suspect convicted of manslaughter PDF Print

A Conover suspect has been sentenced to over 125 months in prison after pleading guilty to voluntary manslaughter.
32-year-old Adam Shane Henderson of Paris Drive initially faced a second-degree murder charge. Henderson was arrested in June in connection with the death of Samuel Lynn Oakes of Catawba County. Reports say Henderson and Oaks were fishing off Globe Road when Henderson stabbed Oaks from behind with a knife. Oaks was treated and released from Watauga Medical Center with knife wounds to his neck, chest and back areas. He was later admitted to Catawba Valley Medical Center with problems related to injuries suffered in the assault. Oaks died from complications.
