$6,000 endowment for Nonfiction, library needs PDF Print
Monday, 19 November 2007 22:15

Watauga County Library is making a few purchases- with the help of a $6,000 endowment fund.

“The endowment is from hundreds of people over the years so the library would have resources in perpetuity, into the future,” says Patty Wheeler, Chair of the Endowment Board.

The $6,000 comes from interest. A letter campaign just added $14,000 to the endowment for future needs

“I think that’s a good way you can tell how important the library is to the community. We didn’t have to have a special event to draw people, just sent a letter. They saw the need and they responded,” Wheeler says.

The $6,000 will not only increase the adult nonfiction section, but it will also help protect soft cover books with a new cover protection system, Wheeler says.

The endowment is designed to support important library needs that are not fully met by government funding. Anyone interested in contributing to the endowment should call John Blake at 828-264-8784.
