ASU: Applications up 30 percent PDF Print
Sunday, 18 November 2007 22:43

It’s only November and already 8,579 rising freshmen have applied to Appalachian State University.

Compare that to last year’s 6,605 applications, and that’s approximately at 30 percent increase, admissions director Paul Hyatt says.

He attributes the increase to recognition- both in the academic and sports worlds, that ASU has received over the past few years.

Two national football championships and a win against Michigan have really drawn interest, as has recognition in national publications like U.S. News and World Report.

Slots are filling up- and Hyatt recommends interested high school seniors to send in their applications as soon as possible. He expects a freshmen class of about 2,700.
