Application season: Get ahead like Earp PDF Print
Wednesday, 14 November 2007 22:15

img_1582_small.jpg Some high school seniors already know where they’re going to school.

Take Jacob Earp. Yesterday, Earp signed a contract to wrestle at Appalachian State University.

Earp’s mother, Kimberly, is thrilled he’s going to be close by.

As is his Coach, James Eichmiller, who calls Earp one of the best wrestlers in Watauga High School history.

Not everyone’s an athlete, however, and, according to Guidance Councilor Jane Rogers, it’s time to mail in those applications.

Thanksgiving and, at the latest, Christmas, should be personal college application deadlines.

Rogers advice? Seniors should send applications off as soon as possible.

While Public School deadlines may not be until next year, slots are filling up, Rogers says.

Today and tomorrow, application fees have been waived at several instate private schools, including Catawba College, Lenoir Rhyne and all North Carolina community colleges. It’s part of 2007 College Application week. For more information, call your child’s guidance councilor, or visit http:///www.cfnc.org.
