Hickory Sinkhole filled by Christmas PDF Print
Wednesday, 14 November 2007 22:12
A sinkhole in the parking lot of the Buffalo’s Southwest Café in Hickory will be filled in by Christmas, the property owner hopes.
According to the Hickory Daily Record, Steve Mason plans to place the final of five 20-foot long 8-foot wide metal pipes next week. The pipes will connect to an existing culvert running under U.S. 70. Early next year, the property will be paved in preparation for sale. The sinkhole first appeared in 2002 and swallowed a Chevrolet Corvette. A new sinkhole formed in 2005. According to the Record, Mason bought the property for one dollar last year.
