Flood Damage Still Fresh for Galax Circle PDF Print

It was four weeks ago that a deluge of rain hit the High Country, bringing with it flooding, evacuations, and for one neighborhood near the gates to Appalachian Ski Mountain—fear. We’re posting dramatic video of flooding from the Galax Circle area with a link on GoBlueRidge.net, the private neighborhood just down the hill from Ski Mountain roadwhere the water poured into their yards, against their foundations, down their drives, with damage very evident a month later.  Yesterday, homeowner Matthew Frost met with two engineering staff members of the NC DOT to try to prevent that in the next big storm, events that he says are coming several times a year. They followed the path of the water into the neighborhood, trying to assess how the damage happened. But Frost says the possibility of eminent damage means he could not sell his house…The DOT promised at least a thorough evaluation and hopes for help from experts in Raleigh coming to the High Country. We’ll be following the story. The link to the flood video is below.
