New sales tax in Catawba PDF Print
Monday, 12 November 2007 21:59
A new sales tax goes into effect April 1 in Catawba County.
The Catawba County Board of Commissioners’ finance and personnel subcommittee approved a resolution of the tax Monday and will consider adopting it November 19. Last week’s vote will be approved at today’s election canvassing. Many voters hoped such an increase would help them avoid property taxes. Commissioners have promised the increase will go towards restoring school expenses and will keep property taxes at their current rate.
