Performance poet to read in a week PDF Print

Performance poet doris davenport, who prefers the lowercase spelling of her name, will read from her work a week from today

during the Hughlene Bostian Frank Visiting Writers Series at Appalachian State University. The performance is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Table Rock Room of the Plemmons Student Union. A craft talk will be presented at 11 a.m.

davenport draws her inspiration from the Appalachian region. Her published works include “Madness Like Morning Glories” and “A Hunger for Moonlight.” An associate professor of English at Albany State University in Albany, Ga, she has a Ph.D. in African American literature from the University of Southern California.
