23.8 million help protect NC land PDF Print
Wednesday, 07 November 2007 18:00

A trust fund gave 23.8 million to help preserve over 100,000 acres of land in North Carolina.

Grants to state agencies include funds to purchase additional land at Chimney Rock State Park and buy historical sites like the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge in Catawba County. Awards were granted by the North Carolina Heritage Trust Fund to protect land considered culturally and ecologically significant. Funding for the awards came from state bonds, portions of the tax on real estate deed transfers and fees for personalized license plates.
