Sugar Mountain’s race proved victorious for newcomer Nancy Crawford.

Long-time incumbent Ed Hardin (59 votes) looks to have lost his seat on the village council. We spoke with Hardin Monday and he admitted that campaign 2007 was a challenge.

“I’ve never had a really close race. I’ve been involved  for nearly 25 years now, and I just- this is the first time I’ve ever felt like I had a really close race.”

Newcomer Nancy Crawford slid into his place with 73 votes.

“I feel very happy. It was a hard won battle.”

She’s ready to get to work. Crawford plans to help create ordinances to help control growth on the mountain.

Incumbent Gunther Jochl’s 74 votes allow him to return to the council.
