73 possible Salmonella cases linked to restaurant PDF Print
Tuesday, 06 November 2007 09:54

Catawba County Public Health is investigating a food borne illness outbreak today.

73 cases have been reported so far, and 10 of those have already tested positive for Salmonella.

People with the symptoms report having eaten at Newton’s Carniceria y Taqueria Hermanos Chavez of U.S. 321 business. The owners voluntarily closed the restaurant Friday.

It’s a busy day at public health, Maria Reese says.

There, officials are urging people with diarrhea and other symptoms to get tested, and not to return to work until two tests have been negative.

Public Health is providing the test for free.
