Mitchell woman faces trafficking charges in Avery PDF Print
Monday, 05 November 2007 09:57
Spruce Pine’s Lisa Garcia faces opiate trafficking charges after an incident involving forged prescriptions.

Frye is not sure how Garcia obtained the prescriptions, but she used them at local drug stores in Avery and Mitchell counties. She obtained enough pills, Frye says, to get a trafficking charge added to the two counts of obtaining controlled substances by fraud or forgery. The investigation is ongoing and, while Frye is not sure if other parties will be arrested or if Garcia will face additional charges in Avery, he expects Mitchell county authorities to file charges. Trafficking offenders are one of Frye’s top priorities.

"We're still working every day to get dope off the streets, people that are getting these controlled substances and selling out there, we're trying our best to get as much off the streets as we can," he says.
