Halloween trailer fire ‘does look suspicious’ PDF Print
Monday, 05 November 2007 09:45

An abandoned trailer was destroyed in a Halloween fire- and the Avery County Sheriff’s Office has brought in the State Bureau of Investigations to investigate.

While Fire Marshal David Charles Vance is unwilling to say the fire’s definitely arson,

“The fire does look suspicious,” he says.

The fire appears to have started in the center of the trailer. Possible trace samples have been sent to the SBI.

The blaze happened at an older trailer on Trim Branch Road off of Spanish Oak. According to Sheriff Kevin Frye, the homeowners had been waiting to hook the trailer up to electricity. The trailer was completely destroyed, a loss of over $2,500, Vance estimates.

Frye says without local rescue agencies, it could have been worse.

“The fast response of the fire department saved it from catching any other trailers that were parked nearby on fire,” Frye says.

Anyone with information on the blaze is asked to call Avery County Sheriff’s Office at 828-733-2071.
