Election Day: Tomorrow PDF Print
Monday, 05 November 2007 09:28

One-stop ballots have been counted and Boone voters are leading the pack.

819 early votes were cast in the Boone runoff between October winner Liz Aycock and incumbent Councilman Dempsey Wilcox.

17 early votes were cast in Beech Mountain, 58 in Blowing Rock and 43 in Seven Devils.

In Avery County, 84 early votes were cast- mostly in Sugar Mountain’s contested council race.  Incumbents Ed Hardin and Gunther Jochl are battling newcomer Nancy Crawford for their seats.

Wilkes early voting drew a total of 272 voters, 130 in North Wilkesboro and 142 in Wilkesboro.

Caldwell County drew 320 early votes, mostly in Lenoir’s uncontested race. A late write-in mayoral campaign by business owner Debra Venti could be the reason. She’s attempting to take the seat from incumbent David Barlowe.

Ashe County has no early voting.
