Thanksgiving Holiday events for the High Country PDF Print

For the next three days, there is much to do in the High Country...
Thanksgiving Day:
The annual High Country Turkey Trot is from 8 to 11 a.m. This run is a Hospitality House benefit.

 

Register for the Turkey Trot at www.hospitalityhouseofboone.org.

In West Jefferson they will hold the annual Tree Fest with trees, gifts and
more beginning at 10 a.m. For information, call (336) 846-ARTS.

Friday:
In Blowing Rock from 2 to 4 p.m. there will be Christmas on Main Street and
at 5:30, the town Holiday lighting. There will be hayrides from 4 to 7 p.m.
carols with the Vagabonds from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and a Bluegrass Christmas from
7 to 9 p.m. Blowing Rock will begin to glow at 5:30 p.m. when the Mayor
lights up the town.

Also in Blowing Rock at the Chetola Resort they will light up the Holidays
with over 50,000 lights. From 5:30 to 9 p.m. there will be cookie decorating
and Santa will be on duty. Horse-drawn carriage rides can also be booked.

Linville Land Harbor lights up for the holidays at dusk on Friday.

Saturday:
Blowing Rock’s Christmas parade starts at 2 p.m.

The Watauga County Farmers’ Market will hold the Holiday Market from 9 a.m.
to noon at Horn in the West in Boone.

The Buckeye Recreation Center at Beech will hold their Holiday Market from
11-3.

A Celtic Christmas concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24 at St. Luke’s
Episcopal Church in Boone featuring Anne Lough. Ann will play the mountain
and hammer dulcimer, the auto harp and guitar. This is a Mountain Home Music
event. For information call (828) 964-3392.

The Banner Elk School will hold their craft show at the old school in
downtown Banner. Call (828) 898-8395 for information.
