Deputies catch armed robbery suspect PDF Print
Wednesday, 31 October 2007 13:03

Just before 4 p.m. today, the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office was notified by Johnson County that a Red Mitsubishi Eclipse was headed towards the state line.

Deputies pursued the vehicle near Skateworld on 421. The vehicle attempted to elude patrol cars by crossing into the westbound lane, sideswiping a Dodge Truck in the process. The Mitsubishi went down the embankment, coming to rest in a creek some thirty to forty feet below. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Steven Allen Bolick of Denver, NC,  then left the vehicle and traveled up the creek on foot, deputies say. Bolick was apprehended about 300 feet east of the wrecked vehicle. Bolick has been taken to Watauga Medical Center for evaluation by Watauga Medics.

As an environmental precaution, a dike was placed in the creek to absorb and contain any motor oil, fluids and gasoline.

In the initial call, Bolick was alleged to have robbed a Mountain City pizza store at gunpoint.

Bolick is also wanted by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
