Elkmont roofer: 16 years old PDF Print
Wednesday, 31 October 2007 06:33

New details in a Monday construction accident at the Lodges of Elkmont  in Banner Elk have been released today.

The victim is listed as a 16-year-old from Granite Falls on the EMS report. A source within Elkmont told Aisling Broadcasting on Monday that the victim was working on a roof when he fell an estimated 15 feet. According to North Carolina Hazardous Occupation Order 16, anyone under the age of 18 is prohibited from all jobs in roofing and related operations. That includes work performed on the ground and removal of the old roof. Calls to Elkmont about the apparent violation have not been returned. Reports say the roofer was flown to Johnson City with a severe head injury. It is Aisling Broadcasting's policy not to release the names of juvenile victims. His condition has not been released.
