Kathy Copley speaks before a crowd on SaturdayWatauga’s movers and shakers gathered at Boone Town Council Chambers Saturday for a discussion entitled Watauga Planning and You.

The program, sponsored by Partnership for Watauga’s Future, gave an overview on key issues including steep slope and walkability.

Representatives from the North Carolina Geologic Survey discussed mapping methodology and preliminary findings of its current Watauga County landslide hazard mapping project. Saturday was the first of what Partnership President Kathy Copley (COP-LEE) hopes will be several information sessions. It’s an easy way citizens can get involved in issues important to their community, she says.
