mugshot.jpgAuthorities in Tennessee and North Carolina are close to catching a fugitive.

48-year-old Robert Randal DeLuca is alleged to have jumped the fence of a Johnson County detention center earlier this month. After discarding his orange jumpsuit, authorities believe he headed for the state line. Originally from Boone, DeLuca is believed to have jacked a Toyota pickup, which was found last week in Watauga County, and headed home. The only problem is, he doesn’t have a home to go to, Johnson County Sheriff Mike Reece says.

An eyewitness puts DeLuca in Valle Crucis on Friday, officials say, but there is evidence that he’s been in Boone.

DeLuca is 5’11” tall, 165 pounds with brown hair and a bald spot. His eyes are green and his mug shot is available at Anyone who sees DeLuca is asked to call 911.
