A retail operation or a business park—the latter was pitched for the old Watauga High site at the Watauga County Commission meeting last night. Members of the Economic Development Commission has looked at the site and see larger dollars

—better paying jobs—if the site becomes a Small Business Park, according to Keith Honeycutt, “When we’re thinking about the citizens of Watauga County, we’re literally comparing $13 to $20,000 jobs to $38 to $43,000 jobs.” Commissioner Vince Gable questioned what a business park development, taken on by the county, might cost, and there were enough questions from commissioners to schedule a meeting specifically for discussion of the issue, and the matter was tabled and scheduled just for that.
