Crimestoppers helped find another man wanted in a number of area counties. July 28th Avery County Sheriff’s Officers received information about the location of twenty one year old Calvin Cook.  Officers relayed the information to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office and Cook was arrested on outstanding felony charges in Avery County by the Carter County Sheriff’s Office.  Cook also had a felony probation and parole warrant for his arrest.  Several felony breaking and entering and larceny charges are pending against Cook in Avery County in addition to the charges for which he was arrested.

And speaking of public help, last Wednesday, officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a suspicious person on Leason Carrol Gragg Rd., discovering a man and a truck—the truck found to have been stolen in Saint Louis, Missouri. Deputies arrested thirty three year old Charles Phillips of Asheville, charging Phillips with possession of the stolen 1993 International Truck.

The same day, Officers with the Avery County Sheriff’s Office arrested twenty one year old Jordan Jones of Boone.  Jones is charged with one count of Possession with intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule VI, four counts of Sell and Deliver Schedule VI and Maintaining a Dwelling for Sale and Delivery.
