Leaves to peak in the next three days PDF Print
Monday, 15 October 2007 20:43

Grandfather Mountain’s Crae Morton knows the leaf peepers are coming.

In fact, many have already arrived. This week, anticipated by many to be the peak foliage week for much of the High Country, is vital to Avery County, as well as the rest of the mountain region.

Morton says it's one of the most important weekend of the year for the tourism and hospitality industries.

The leaves are already beautiful colors on Grandfather, he says.

He expects them to peak at the top of the mountain within the next three days. Lower elevations will peak next, he says- maybe just in time for a great weekend.

While Morton does expect traffic congestion, most leaf peepers aren’t bothered by it, he says. They’re just happy to enjoy the foliage.
